Helping the disabled program

This program offers an invaluable opportunity for volunteers to advocate for the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities. In Kenya, individuals with disabilities often face social stigmatization, limited access to education and employment, and insufficient resources to lead fulfilling lives. By volunteering in this program, you will help empower individuals with disabilities to reach their full  potential while fostering inclusive communities.

Volunteers collaborate with local organizations, caregivers, and advocates to provide essential support, skills training, and advocacy for people with disabilities.

Program Objectives

Volunteer Responsibilites

  • Assisting in training programs to teach practical skills for self-reliance.
  • Organizing awareness campaigns to educate the community on disability rights and inclusion.
  • Supporting rehabilitation activities, including physical therapy and mobility training.
  • Helping develop and distribute accessibility tools, such as wheelchairs and walking aids.
  • Offering emotional support and mentorship to individuals with disabilities.
  • Engaging in educational programs to improve literacy and vocational skills.
  • Participating in advocacy efforts to influence policies on disability inclusion.
  • Facilitating recreational and social activities to enhance community engagement.

Program Duration

The program is open year-round, allowing volunteers to join at any time. Volunteers are encouraged to spend at least one week in the program to maximize their contribution and impact, with longer stays offering deeper engagement and understanding.
