Hiv/Aids awareness and support program

This program provides an impactful opportunity for volunteers to contribute to the fight against HIV/AIDS in Kenya. The epidemic remains a significant health and social challenge, particularly in rural and underprivileged areas. By participating in this program, volunteers will play a vital role in creating awareness, reducing stigma, and offering support to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.

Volunteers work alongside healthcare professionals, counsellors, and community leaders to provide education, advocacy, and direct care to those impacted by the epidemic.

Program Objectives

  • To promote awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.
  • To reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • To offer counselling and emotional support to affected individuals and families.
  • To encourage community-wide participation in HIV/AIDS education and advocacy.
  • To provide access to essential health services and resources.
  • To empower affected individuals through skill-building and self-reliance programs.
  • To foster cross-cultural understanding through collaborative efforts.

Volunteer Responsibilites

  • Conducting HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns in schools, churches, and communities.
  • Providing one-on-one or group counselling sessions to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
  • Assisting in healthcare facilities with patient care and treatment plans.
  • Distributing informational materials on prevention, testing, and treatment options.
  • Supporting community-based support groups and initiatives.
  • Organizing workshops on nutrition and healthy living for affected individuals.
  • Participating in outreach programs to encourage voluntary testing and counselling.
  • Helping implements income-generating activities for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

Program Duration

This program is open to volunteers year-round. Volunteers are encouraged to spend at least one week in the program, with longer durations providing greater impact and opportunities for involvement.
